The spirit of this work was intended to help create a Path Forward to violence against Indigenous women and girls
and find tangible action items that we could take and move forward with.
This work can also be used as a foundation for others who are trying to find a place to start.
This work can be intimidating  overwhelming and emotional and it is only through working together,
honouring each others perspectives and experiences and sharing information
and helping each other that we will be be able to move forward.

This information does not belong to anyone.
We hope that you may be able to use any or all of this as a foundation to help move your work forward.

Please read before downloading:
This work was done through ceremony and protocols that respects that all individuals were coming together to find solutions for what a Path Forward would look like based on their own perspectives and experiences.

We had protocols in place that helped us honour each voice, even if we did not agree.
We made commitments to listen with an open heart and open mind, understanding that we are all human beings and that each individual in this world has purpose.

This work was created from that space to help find solutions and action items.

Individuals saw ways that they could take some of those action items and implement it into the work that they do in their own communities and organizations.

If there are pieces of this report that resonate with you and you want to utilize in your work please feel free to do so.

12 community sessions

We designed and facilitated sessions based on indigenous decision making processes and protocols across the province of British Columbia. We sought permission to speak our language and share our stories in other territories and ensured we conducted ceremony before, throughout and at the end based on each territories direction.

healing

We offered support systems, elders and members of the Family Information Liaison Unit were present at our sessions, along with cultural support for those who needed extra support. We also offered choice to participants who did not want to participate in all of our discussions including rock painting to help ground participants.

creating safe spaces

We spent the entire morning setting a safe space and understanding each other through sharing and protocols and commitments to each other to make the space safe so that each person could show up to the difficult conversations in their most authentic way possible.
